Am I using best practices manipulating with DOM? Should I use media-queries this way or is there any better solution for pesponsive layouts?

This one was fun. I added some small animations on the arrow icon and a fadein effect for the incoming answer. The section with images on the desktop version was a bit tricky. It looks almost as the design but the way there was kinda messy. A feedback how I can solve this better would be nice.
