Very open for feedback! any bad practices, red flags, or general suggestions on what to improve?

Not really accessible, im trying to learn the absolute basics on how to get sites like this working, so accessability would be a thing id learn next after getting a good grasp on the functionality.

I am not content with my solution in terms of different max widths i had to set, depending on the mobile / desktop imgs for the grid containers. Also, the media query to set the appropriate img seems hacky. Could anybody review these parts?

Solution feels a little hacky with fixed "gaps" and differentiation of those through media queries. Anyone see any red flags or issues? I try to use rems mostly and write code that does not make use of fixed heights or widths, but im not always sure how to do so. Help would be appreciated.
