I’m most proud of successfully implementing the results summary component and making it fully responsive across various devices. It was a rewarding challenge to work on, especially as it required setting up dynamic data rendering and styling components to achieve a clean, user-friendly layout. I also felt a sense of accomplishment with fine-tuning the visual details to match the design specifications closely. Seeing the component render seamlessly was very satisfying!
Next time, I’d streamline the development workflow to minimize some of the issues I encountered, like troubleshooting Git configurations and browser compatibility inconsistencies. I’d also focus more on planning component structures early in the project to make sure everything integrates smoothly. Additionally, exploring CSS utility classes or experimenting with a CSS-in-JS approach could improve the styling process.
What challenges did you encounter, and how did you overcome them?-
Dynamic Data Rendering: One of the primary challenges was setting up the component to render data dynamically from a local file. Initially, it was difficult to ensure that each data point displayed correctly, particularly when structuring the component for reusability. I overcame this by breaking the component into smaller, more focused pieces, like ResultCard and SummaryList, allowing each to handle its own piece of data independently.
-
Styling to Match Design Specs: Replicating the exact design with specific styling requirements was more challenging than expected. After several attempts using different CSS approaches, I managed to achieve this by experimenting with box-shadow and border properties, eventually finding the best way to place subtle shadows where needed.
-
Browser Compatibility Issues: I encountered unexpected rendering inconsistencies between Chrome and Firefox.
This being my first React project, there are several areas where guidance would be invaluable:
-
Code Optimization: I’d like feedback on my component structure and if there are ways to make the code more efficient or modular, particularly with ResultCard and SummaryList.
-
Cross-Browser Compatibility: I ran into challenges with cross-browser compatibility, especially rendering the project on Firefox. Any guidance on ensuring consistent cross-browser performance would be greatly appreciated.
-
Styling Techniques: Replicating the design specs for partial gray borders was difficult. If there’s a more straightforward CSS solution, any guidance would help me improve future styling approaches.

Customizing the ordered list numbers, but I was able to find a simple solution using css and the ::before pseudo element.
What specific areas of your project would you like help with?I would appreciate any feedback on ways that I can make my html more semantic if at all possible. Thank you!

For this project, this is my first time utilizing flexbox to create the layout. I find it very useful as it keeps the layout neat and organized. Overall, I find myself getting better with CSS with each project. This is also my first time using the mobile first approach. It not only makes the CSS code more efficient but also organized when it comes to adding CSS code for the desktop version without repeating code. I am learning how to create a gameplan on how to approach common UI components such as dialog boxes and others so that it will be useful for future projects. It will also speed up development time as well.
What challenges did you encounter, and how did you overcome them? One of the challenges I encountered was to ensure smooth transition from mobile to desktop. I've noticed some padding issue with the perfume image but I was able to modify the margins accordingly for the width of the card content with product information. Overall I find this project fun and challenging.
What specific areas of your project would you like help with? What I hope to improve on this project is for the desktop view, I would like to improve the padding and perfume image in the card so that when the user shrinks and expands the width, it would not leave extra space. Right now I am using lower margins on the card component product details to resolve this extra space issue for the perfume image.

I am proud of the fact that even after 9 years of not coding, I could finish this within 30 minutes. I used to work as a Web Developer back in 2015.
What challenges did you encounter, and how did you overcome them?I had never used flex before so that was an new learning thing for me.
What specific areas of your project would you like help with?I would like to get back to the industry and potentially work as a Web Developer/Programmer. So I need help in understanding the new trends and updates on the field.
