What are you most proud of?
I am most proud of successfully mastering various technologies such as React and moment.js to create a complete and functional project. I adhered to best programming practices, resulting in clean and maintainable code. Effective state management using React hooks and efficiently handling user inputs and displaying appropriate error messages were significant achievements in this project.
What would you do differently next time?
Next time, I would incorporate TypeScript to take advantage of static typing and reduce errors during development. Implementing unit and integration tests would ensure code reliability. I would focus more on optimizing performance and enhancing user experience (UX) by incorporating user feedback. Additionally, for larger projects, I would consider using central state management tools like Redux or Context API for more efficient state management.
What challenges did you encounter, and how did you overcome them?
Validation of User Inputs: Validating user inputs for day, month, and year fields was challenging as it required ensuring that the input values are within valid ranges and providing appropriate error messages.
State Management: Managing the state effectively in React, especially with multiple inputs, to ensure that state updates correctly and triggers necessary updates, was a significant challenge.
Date Calculations: Calculating the age accurately, considering factors like leap years and different month lengths, was complex and required precision.
Error Handling: Handling potential errors gracefully, such as incorrect date inputs or incomplete data, and ensuring the application does not crash while providing useful feedback to the user.
Overcoming Challenges:
Validation of User Inputs: I implemented detailed validation logic for each input field, checking the length and range of the values, and displayed specific error messages for each type of invalid input to ensure valid date entries.
State Management: Using React hooks like useState and useEffect, I managed the state effectively by setting up dependencies correctly in useEffect to ensure efficient state updates and necessary calculations.
Date Calculations: I leveraged the moment.js library for date calculations, which provided robust methods to handle complexities like leap years and varying month lengths, ensuring accurate age calculations.
Error Handling: Comprehensive error handling was implemented by checking for null or undefined values, providing default fallback values, and displaying clear error messages to guide users in correcting their inputs, ensuring the application did not crash.

Advanced Validation Techniques: While the basic validation for day, month, and year fields is in place, I would appreciate suggestions on more advanced validation techniques, particularly for handling edge cases and improving user feedback.
Performance Optimization: As the application grows, performance might become an issue, especially with state updates and calculations. Any advice on optimizing React performance, such as efficient state management and minimizing re-renders, would be helpful.
Error Handling and User Experience: Enhancing the error handling to provide a smoother user experience is a priority. I am looking for best practices in error handling in React applications to ensure that the app remains robust and user-friendly.
Code Structure and Best Practices: I am eager to improve my code structure and follow best practices. Feedback on the current structure and any suggestions for better organization and maintainability of the code would be valuable.
Styling and Responsiveness: Although the current styling works, I would like to enhance the responsiveness and visual appeal of the application. Recommendations on advanced CSS techniques or integrating CSS frameworks for better UI/UX would be beneficial.
