What are you most proud of, and what would you do differently next time?

I'm most proud of extending the elements with borders beyond the viewport width and ensuring that part wasn't scrollable so that I could dial in the right amount of curve!

That part broke my spirit for awhile, but once I found it I kept chugging along.

What challenges did you encounter, and how did you overcome them?

I encountered MANY, but as with all things programming I took to the internet, StackOverflow and MDN to review how I could do what I needed to do.

The hardest parts of the challenge for me were:

    • Appropriately handling z-index
    • Keeping track of relative and absolute elements
    • Bloat in my CSS
    • Remember to compile my sass!!!!
    • Managing three different breakpoints

What specific areas of your project would you like help with?

Honestly, the hardest part for me would have to be managing the three different breakpoints. I shipped the project because I want to be able to look back at my progress but I am aware that my media queries are a nightmare.

I also most definitely have conflicting CSS rules and also plenty of rules that are doing nothing at all.

Going forward I need to be better about keeping track of my rules and not let them get away from me like they did here.

    What a project!

I finished it in under a week, cant say I could have completed it any faster otherwise I might not have learned as much as I had.

I had fun with this one, made some mistakes I could have corrected afterwards but ultimately this was the first time I was able to implement JavaScript in a useful way without any outside help.

I also started using sass/scss as well and was amazed at the features I could work with! I'm excited for the future, I cannot wait to continue to complete these projects and grow as a developer.

Shout out to FrontendMentor for existing!!! I genuinely do not think I would be learning as thoroughly if not for these high quality projects.

    Another challenge done!

I had a tough time with this one until I learned about object-fit:. Until that moment I was really scratching my head when I realized my image wasnt the height it needed it me.

"I have everything spaced out perfectly, why isnt the author thumbnail lining up!"

I used px to space everything out but going forward, I believe I need to read up on rem and em measurements, possibly defining and adding those to :root

    Happy to receive feedback!

    Loved this one!

I definitely could have eliminated a lot of bloat throughout the stylesheet but overall I'm happy with what I created.

I was able to add some JavaScript to the site as well so that's a personal bonus for me.

    Happy to take any feedback.

    Feedback welcome!

First time developing with a mobile first workflow. I'd love any feedback on my use of HTML and any redundancies I more than likely have in the CSS.

    Thanks!

This one was a bit deceptive for me!

I had a hard time keeping the SVG background consistent and at times I just scrapped the whole layout and started over. My one question is my concern regarding the responsive layout..

I'm not necessarily looking for an answer but I'd like to know if it was possible to keep the layout exactly the same as the reference image for desktop. I spent a lot of time trying to keep everything lined up(specifically the diamond above illustration svg) and ultimately just made an assumption that maybe I was approaching it incorrectly.

This one took a lot out of me. There were many things I would do differently going forward. First being that I will not mix responsive sizing measurements with absolute measurements. That alone made this a nightmare to finish but regardless, I'm proud of what I brought to the table and I'm even prouder of what I'll take away from it.

The next project will be approached differently from the ground up.

I found the responsive breakpoints to be the most challenging. Using two different pictures to be displayed for one element was a hurdle but I knew I had to learn how to use media queries.

I would love some feedback if anyone has any! I'm always trying to grow and develop my skills in a professional way.
