Hey, your design is wonderful,... If your images are not showing, try using a direct link to your GitHub repo..... like, let's say your image is in a folder /images/myimage.jpg inside your repo..
to access it, try using: https://username.github.io/repo_name/images/myimage.jpg

To change the image filter, maybe use an overlay on the background image with an opacity, such as linear-gradient.... here's a link to show how you can add an overlay to a background image with text,and change it's opacity :https://youtu.be/qKKXQepRIu0
