Web and mobile newsletter signup

I feel like the ends doesn't justify the means here... I'd be greatly appreciative of some feedback on the way I've tried to replicate the design brief and what some best practises would be. Having said this, my attempt took a couple of hours and it's always good to get a reminder on how to use CSS and thinking about the non-happy path.
