Two suggestions form me:

• i like to use transform: translate x/y to achieve the staggered card affect instead of margin. I think it's a little simpler from a responsive design perspective
• you could try adding some max-width to your cards, this would stop them stretching all the way across the viewport when your design transitions to tablet/mobile
