responsive news page using CSS and JS

Wow! This took me about 2 weeks on and off. The responsive design was a huge headache for me. Is there a better way than essentially making two different sites and putting one in a media query? I copied the sideNav from w3 schools which really helped and I actually understand the javascript behind it, but executing on my own would have taken even longer. Some containers are still asymmetrical but I am satisfied with this end product. Any responsive css feedback is greatly appreciated. Cheers.
