I totally get you bro🤣, though I don't think it's that bad because I also did it.
Your solution looks good and the functionality was pretty fine, until I attempted to enter multiple periods(.....) and it allowed me. You should restrict it to avoid any errors that way come with it.
Overall it's a good solution though.
