Solution retrospective

The project overall was ok, I was struggling at some point, so I had to look at some tutorial in order to complete it. I did wrote the code according to the tutorial, but did not copied the code by pressing the command to copy and paste. I am currently struggling with Git, as I dont know how to host the project live on the internet. I have followed all the steps provided by the link provided by FrontEnd mentors, but still, I cant find the live url. I have added the code in the GitHub Desktop, but after that, I don`t know how to run in on a browser with a valid URL. I have tested the component, on Visual Studio Code live server, and it works great there. Can somebody please further explain me how to get the link for the live preview, so I can follow the procedure and attach the link in my future projects? I am new to Fornt End mentor, and this is my first project.

Congratulations on completing the 1st challenge! 🎉

Welcome to the platform! 🎉 We're thrilled to have you here and excited to see your progress 💪as you continue your front-end development journey.

  • I must say, you've taken the first step towards this incredible journey, and that's what matter the most.

  • You may go through this guide to understand how to upload a project to github from visual studio code. Also you can checkout youtube tutorials.

In my projects:

  • I always start with mobile-first workflow.
  • I use at least one main element for a page (entire content goes into the main, if I'm not using header & footer), and avoid divs as much as possible and use section and article element wherever I can.
<body>
<main>
All content
</main>
</body>
  • I Use relative units as much as possible and avoid absolute units whenever possible.

  • If you are someone who is just starting out with front-end development, I strongly suggest starting with the QR code component project. Also in the challenges page you may filter by (Newbie, HTML&CSS) sort by (easier first) to select projects that will help you solidify your foundation. To avoid any potential knowledge gap⚠️ please first solidify HTML, CSS, JS fundamentals and then move on to any framework or library.

  • I remember when I started out, I made countless mistakes and spent long hours searching for solutions. But hey, you don't need to go through the same struggles! 🙌 To help you shorten the learning curve, I recommend going through the following articles. They contain valuable insights that can make your journey smoother:

📚🔍 12 important CSS topics where I discuss about css position, z-index, box-model, flexbox, grid, media queries, mobile-first workflow, best practices etc. in a simple way.

📚🔍 11 important HTML topics where I discuss about my thought process and approach to convert a design/mock-up to HTML along with important topics like block and inline elements, HTML Semantic Elements.

I hope you find these resources helpful in your coding adventures! 🤞

I'm eagerly looking forward to seeing the amazing projects you'll create in the future! 🚀💻

Keep up the fantastic work and happy hacking! 💪✨

Thank you Tushar for your recommendations. I have done several courses about HTML, CSS and JavaScript, and know the theory of them, but I haven't done many projects, and because of this, whenever I do challenges like this, I always find some solution code and write the solution code, with the hope to understand the code. I was facing some issues regarding getting the live URL of the project, using GitHub Desktop, as I have followed the tutorial provided by fornt end mentor on how to get free hosting link using Github, but I was facing the issue, when, once I have wrote both HTML and CSS code in the repository and I could not get live url link. I have tried with my username.github.io, but it still didn't work. Could you please help me, by telling me how to get the live URL link for the project on GitHub? Thank you.
