Responsive News hompage with Bootstrap

Hello everyone , so this was my first time using bootstrap , and heck it was annoying , it felt counter intuitive to me , maybe because I m used to editing the smallest details , I had to make a css file called custom to add a simple hover effect and increse the size of a link on mobile size . but to be faire it really helped me with responsivness so maybe I m just not getting it , but I want to know when using bootstrap how do you normally handle this kind of situations ? and do you customize things so often when using bootstrap ?
