Awesome work on this challenge Alex, it looks great and functions perfectly 💯
I hope you enjoyed building it!
1@mattstuddertPosted about 5 years ago@AlexBueckig oh cool! Yeah, that's a nice approach. The bundle is definitely on the large side! Haha. You're doing a really good job. Your solutions are consistently high quality!
Also, I've noticed you jumping in and giving others feedback on their solutions. So thanks a lot for that! Any help on the feedback is massively appreciated 🙂
1@mattstuddertPosted about 5 years ago@AlexBueckig yeah, I'm working hard to refine the process. As you said, there's hardly any context around the solution submissions at the moment. So it's hard to know what to give feedback on or even if the solution author wants any feedback at all!
Having the dashboard will really help. I also think re-working the submission and feedback process will have a huge impact. Would you be happy for me to message you in Slack when I get to the planning stage with those? It would be great to have your input, especially as you have both submitted solutions and given feedback on them.
1@AlexBueckigPosted about 5 years ago@mattstuddert Sure, feel free to message me if you need any input. 😃
0@AlexBueckigPosted about 5 years ago@mattstuddert It's no big deal, I can only imagine how much work it is to go through all the submissions and having a look at them. I'm still surprised that you are able to keep up with all the submissions and leave a comment on all of them.
And if I'm able to help out at least a bit, I'm quite happy to do so! 😃 Even though I'm not sure most of the time if the people even want specific feedback on anything or not... That's why I'm still holding back with more comments, especially on design related stuff... It's always a question of what their current knowledge level is and what their current goals are and that is really hard to guess without knowing them...
I'm really looking forward to the new dashboard you announced a few days back in slack, hopefully that'll easy things up quite a bit. 😅
1@AlexBueckigPosted about 5 years ago@mattstuddert I really enjoyed doing this challenge since it was the first time I was doing a hybrid between static html and react. As you might have noticed I started out with the static content and then injected the url shortener form afterwards.
Because of this I didn't use create-react-app and bootstrapped everything myself even the bundling. The bundling part is definiately something I need to improve on because my bundle size got kinda big (~400kb) for such a small project. Thats why it is quite noticeable that the form gets loaded in at a later time because you see it popping in... 😕 Create-react-app obviously does a better job at bundling the react app and shrinking it down sizewise...
