Hello, the design looks great ,I don't know if I'm right but I will recommended this method for you :in the JavaScript you can use the XMLHttpRequest() instead of using the variable to store the data from JSON file .you can look at my solution in my repo and see how i did .

After struggling a little with Chart.js, this second solution was done with best practices in mind and in real world the data would come probably from external source so you are absolutely right with your recommended method.
