Have you tried adding the lighter weight when importing from google fonts?
Before you copy the embed link check out the 'customize' tab on the popup. You can check off the weights you want to use. If your not sure which ones the styles.md for the project specifies font weights.

Very well done on the main desktop design, maybe take it a step further and try to make it responsive for mobile? Either way very well done!
