To center .container on the page using grid, add min-height:100vh to the body.
To center .container on the page using grid:
body{
min-height: 100vh;
display: grid;
place-items: center;
}
Give .container a margin-top and bottom value instead of margin: 8em auto; .
Aside from this everything is okay.
